Basic Career Readiness

Grade: 9th

Description: Basic Career Readiness is a career awareness /exploration course designed to engage students in opportunities that will translate into: developing employability “soft” skills, exploring career pathways, and developing an awareness of the connection between education and their career choice. Through the career awareness/exploration activities students will begin to connect academic success with short-term and longterm post-secondary goals. Students will also engage in personal finance activities, career research, and resume/portfolio development.

Advanced Career Readiness

Description: Basic Career Readiness is a career awareness /exploration course designed to engage students in opportunities that will translate into: developing employability “soft” skills, exploring career pathways, and developing an awareness of the connection between education and their career choice. Through the career awareness/exploration activities students will begin to connect academic success with short-term and longterm post-secondary goals. Students will also engage in personal finance activities, career research, and resume/portfolio development. In addition, students will also engage in ACT preparation in this course. They will learn about the parts of the ACT test and practice the math, English, science, social studies, and test taking skills necessary for achievement of the highest possible score on the test.
