Woodlawn High School is celebrating a remarkable group of student-athletes who have made the exciting decision to continue their football careers at Blinn Junior College. This talented group of players has been an integral part of the Woodlawn football program, demonstrating outstanding skill, leadership, and dedication throughout the season. This Ceremony is a special event where high school athletes publicly announce their commitment to play football at a college or university, and it’s a celebration of the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of student-athletes who have earned athletic scholarships.
- Chase Walker – 1st Team All District Defensive Lineman
Chase Walker was a defensive powerhouse for Woodlawn this season, earning 1st Team All District honors as a defensive lineman. His presence on the field was undeniable, with his leadership setting the tone for the team’s defense. As a key part of the defensive line, Chase’s ability to disrupt plays and pressure opposing quarterbacks helped make Woodlawn’s defense one of the most formidable in the district. He is now set to bring his defensive intensity to Blinn Junior College, where he is expected to continue excelling. - Caleb Cooper – 1st Team All District Defensive Back / Honorable Mention All State
Caleb Cooper had a standout season as a 1st Team All District defensive back and earned Honorable Mention All State honors. Not only was Caleb a top performer in the secondary, but he also led Woodlawn in interceptions. His ability to read the quarterback, make crucial stops, and create turnovers was a game-changer for Woodlawn’s defense. His skills and instincts will make him a valuable asset to Blinn Junior College’s defensive unit. - Dwayne Beverly – 1st Team All District Center
Dwayne Beverly earned 1st Team All District honors as the anchor of Woodlawn’s offensive line. As the center, Dwayne’s leadership and consistency were key in providing stability for the offense. His ability to read defenses, make precise snaps, and protect the quarterback allowed the Woodlawn offense to operate smoothly. Dwayne’s physicality and football IQ will surely translate well at the junior college level. - Keylen Sonnier – 2nd Team All District Defensive Back
Keylen Sonnier may have earned 2nd Team All District honors, but his impact on the Woodlawn defense cannot be overstated. A veteran presence in the defensive backfield, Keylen’s experience and leadership made him an essential part of the secondary. His ability to cover receivers and make critical tackles made him one of the team’s most reliable defenders. Keylen’s experience and poise will undoubtedly be a great addition to Blinn Junior College’s defensive squad. - Cornelius Selmon – 2nd Team All District Offensive Lineman
Cornelius Selmon was a senior leader on the offensive line for Woodlawn, earning 2nd Team All District honors. His physicality and toughness in the trenches provided the stability needed for the team’s offensive game plan. Cornelius was instrumental in opening running lanes and providing the necessary protection for the quarterback. His leadership and experience will be an asset as he continues his football career at Blinn Junior College. - Jaycob Jolla – 2nd Team All District Running Back
Jaycob Jolla’s explosive playmaking ability earned him 2nd Team All District honors as a running back. Known for his dynamic speed and vision, Jaycob was a key component of Woodlawn’s offensive success. Whether breaking through tackles or making defenders miss in the open field, Jaycob was a constant threat on the ground. His ability to change the course of a game with one play will serve him well as he transitions to the next level at Blinn Junior College. - Nehemiah Norford – Offensive & Defensive Lineman
Nehemiah Norford, an offensive and defensive lineman for Woodlawn High, is set to continue his football career at Blinn College. A key contributor to his team this season, Norford showcased his versatility by excelling in multiple roles on the field. His dynamic playmaking and dedication have earned him this opportunity to advance to the next level.
This group of committed players represents the hard work, determination, and talent that has made Woodlawn High School football a force to be reckoned with. As they move on to Blinn Junior College, they will continue to hone their skills and represent their school and community with pride. Woodlawn is incredibly proud of these athletes and looks forward to seeing them succeed at the next level.
